Artist's Statement:

I used to paint and draw what I saw with my eyes, but now I create what I see with my heart. No longer trying to 'copy' from my photos, but letting it be interpreted through the heart has given me freedom to explore and have fun. Incorporating my personality into my work has given me a sense of self expression. Simple, whimsical, love of God and life, laughter, good friends, loveable children and animals (especially cats)....I desire to bring a sense of the lighter side into the world. My new art incorporates symbols that I've always doodled through the years, such as cats, swirls, roses, fleurdelis, crosses, and fun depictions of my cajun french, native american and celtic ancestry and Catholic faith.

Artist's Biography:

I was born and raised in Lake Charles, Louisiana (Sportsman's Paradise.) Creating arts and crafts with my family was a regular part of my childhood. I took two years of art classes in high school, but I am primarily self taught. I currently live in Houston Texas with my husband and three boys, but hope to move back to SouthWest Louisiana eventually.

I started doing commission work on the side of my full time job in 1989. In 1993 I left my job in the banking industry to be a stay at home mom and pursue a full time art career. I have recently put my commission work on hold to create my own ideas at my own pace and have more time to devote to my family.

Without the constraints of a deadline or following someone else's criteria for artwork, it has taken me into a whole new exciting journey of self exploration. The characters and the symbols in my art all represent aspects of my self and environment. I'm exploring different styles, pop, folk, art deco, impressionism, symbolic, contemplative, icons, etc...I feel all of the styles that I am exploring are starting to merge together into my own unique style.
