Janice St.Cyr has been painting for more than 30 years. She started
painting after the birth of her first child by taking oil painting
lessons in a private home. Continuing to study, she took courses
in watercolors from local artist, Charlene Lee. Currently, she is
painting in acrylics on wood and is focusing on the American primitive
folk art style.
She
loves the simplicity of this self- taught style. Inspired by the
work of American folk artists Warren Kimble and JD Logan, her favorite
subjects to paint are saltbox houses, farm animals, particularly
sheep, and cats. Her paintings hang in folk art collectors' homes
across America.
She
has lived in the state of Maine her entire life and has just recently
moved to Florida where she has realized a lifelong dream of painting
everyday in her own studio. She travels to her summer cottage in
Maine, believes she has the best of both worlds, and is blessed
everyday by doing what she loves. She lives with her husband, Paul
and two feline friends Nicholas and Noelle. You can contact her
